Having a woodlot that required some cleanup, I decided that a sawmill would utilize some of the larger trees to lumber. A visit to Davis Forestry Ltd. made my purchase easy and simplified. With a full line of Hud-Son Sawmills on site, and demonstrations available. It wasn’t long before my decision to purchase a Hud-Son Oscar 230 ground track, became a reality on Jan 2009.

Using my mill on ground was not for me. Sawing enough material to build a shed to store my mill in and raising the track up on pillars, made my milling experience more pleasurable. After milling for the day it is great to roll the mill on the track into the shed for storage. The mill has taken care of the larger trees but there was a lot of firewood to clean up.

First I started cutting with a chainsaw and splitting axe. I was not long realizing that processing the firewood this way is hard on the body. Back to Davis Forestry Ltd. to find a solution. I purchased a 20 Ton LJVH Horizontal Vertical Wood Splitter made by Hud-Son, Jan 2010.
